Break.com

Published by Joe under Daily Blabber

So the last week of so I’ve been stuck watching Break.COM Videos. I’ve come to the realization that some of the vids are fake but they are still entertaining. Check out a couple if you like.

This first one is called Chain Surfing.. I’m about 101% sure that it’s fake but it looks pretty cool I guess. Secpnd one is a compilation of reporters getting pwned.

Family Weekend

Published by Joe under Family

This weeekend came and gone probably because we spent the whole time together and had a ton of fun.  Yesterday we had lunch at Smokey Bones in North Charleston.  Jojo’s favorite restaurant here because of their infamous Mac N Cheese. Junalyn made a funny joke that she ordered Jojo Shrimp with Brocolli and got Jojo really worried and kind of mad =/.  But when the food was served she was all laughs and said she knew that Mommy ordered her the Mac N Cheese.  After lunch we headed home and June got stuck playing Peggle on the PC.  It’s a very addictive game and if you haven’t given it a try they have a the trial version available at popcap.com.  I think she played around 4-5 hours on that, which was cool with me because I got to watch the final four.  But sadly both of the teams I wanted to win lost =/ UCLA and UNC.  Oh well I gotta give it up to Memphis and the Jayhawks for playing top notch ball.
Today we headed out to Summerville for the annual Flowertown Festival.  It was our first time going there and we were pleasantly surprised at how much stuff there was to do there.  We tried our very first kettlecorn, which was great.  Apparently it’s a southern snack thing.  Then Jojo went on several rides and had a blast.  We walked.. then walked.. then walked again.  I think the festival was about 5 blocks long and about 2 blocks wide, needless to say it was alot of walking.
After all that walking, we headed home and was just napped.  After napping, I watched the movie “Vantage Point” and thought it was a pretty good movie.  Nothing spectacular but decent, the only thing I would say I didn’t like about the movie was the ending but overall it was good.
Now it’s time to watch the Lakers play Sacramento.  It’s going to be a good game and I hope LA doesn’t take Sac for granted and avenge the loss they had against them at home.

Weekend Here/Moving Back

Published by Joe under Daily Blabber

Another workweek is done and It’s time to unwind.. This week was hectic, there was a major change at work.. A change that really didn’t make sense.  But whatever I’m still employed and as long as I get a paycheck for the next two months I’m OK.

We need to start cleaning up and packing..  In case I haven’t mentioned it we’ve decided on moving back to LA.  My wife’s last day on the job is April 25 and she starts working in LA on April 28th.  I’ve been looking for a job and so far I’ve had several call backs.  Too bad I can’t set up any interviews yet because I’m all the way in Charleston but hopefully when we get to LA I get something right away.

OK so this is really a big deal and I don’t think we’re all that prepared but it just isn’t working out for us here.  We’re got tons of lists to go through and so far we’re way behind.  Because of that I’ll need to stay here until the middle or end of May while my wife goes to LA, gets an Apt and gets everything settled.. Then I’ll follow..  That way we’ll have dual income until the last minute.

Just Another Rainy Day In Charleston

Published by Joe under Daily Blabber

It’s been raining the last two days which is about right at this time of the year in Charleston.  It’s weird though because during the day it’s really sunny then when it’s time to go home.. it gets gloomy and starts raining on the “long” drive home.  Yep.. I drive about 45min to 1 hour each way every day.. Isn’t that just awesome?? And all this for a very healthy income of about…nevermind Its not a real healthy income =/

Although it’s raining alot this week.. Spring is actually the best time here in Charleston.  Not as good as LA but the weather is actually livable.. Because come summer it gets in the 110s with very very very high humidity..  During spring however its breezy in the high 70s low 80s so yeah perfect weather in Charleston is there’s ever such a thing.

Just thought I’d make a quick blog since I haven’t written in a couple of days.  My mind is blank and I can’t think of anything to write about right now, hopefully something comes to mind and I’ll have that blogger’s mentality and just blog like crazy but for now I’m just gonna watch American Idol, then the Lakers then go to sleep. Gnite I guess.

Website Review: Blurb.com

Published by Joe under Website Reviews

Are you an aspiring writer, blogger, photographer? If the answer is yes then Blurb.com will probably come in handy for you. Blurb.com is a website that allows you to make your own books from just about anything. Whether it’s a blog, a photoblog, a bunch of short stories, poems or a bunch of photos you’ve taken that’s just sitting on your hard drive collecting dust. Blurb.com will print these items and give it that “published look” for a very affordable price. The price for a book up to 40 pages is just $12.95. The turnaround rate isn’t that bad either, the time it will take from sending in your info and having the book at your door step is currently between 10-14 days.

Here’s their current rate for a square 7×7 book:

Page Count Softcover Price Hardcover Price
  41-80 $16.95 $25.95
  121-160 $25.95 $33.95
  201-240 $34.95 $42.95
  281-320 $44.95 $54.95
  361-400 $54.95 $64.95

They also offer different sizes such as Standard Portrait, Standard Lanscape or even Large Format Landscape. Of course the price will vary and the bigger books will cost a little bit more.

Another great option is to actually “SELL” your books. If you order a specific quantity they will give you a discount and you can sell your books at 100% profit. Ordering over 10 books will generate a 10% discount, and if you order 400+ books give them a call and they will give you a custom quote.

So given what I’ve seen, I might actually order a book and see how it pans out. It’s just a cool thing to have “my book” on the coffee table when visitors come over and say yea.. I wrote that.

Mercedes SL550 & SL600 Roadster 2009

Mercedes SL550 & SL600 Roadster 2009

Mercedes SL550 & SL600 Roadster 2009

The Mercedes SL 550 & SL600 Roadsters are rides I wouldn’t mind rolling around Charleston with. I’d take a Convertable, Silver one with all the trimmings. Of course the price tag on this baby would set me back around 30 years since my house is worth about the same as this but whatever. The SL550 starts at around $96K and the SL600 is around $136K. The price has increased around 2% from the 2008 models but that’s just inflation I guess. In my opinion, if you could afford the 2008 model.. you can afford the 2009 model.

Power is something you will not run short of with either of these babies. The SL550 wil take you from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds an impressive number to say the least. But even more impressive is the SL600 which will shove your head back and take you from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. The SL600 boasts a V12 510-HP motor soo sooo sick.

Car and Driver did a first look review on these two beauties and you can check it out here

Kevin Love Knows Basketball

Published by Joe under Sports

Kevin Love Knows Basketball
Kevin Love is the starting UCLA Power Forward/Center. He is the son of Stan Love who was an NBA player in the 70s. I don’t follow College Hoops as much as I do the NBA but after watching UCLA destroy Xavier yesterday, I feel that I should. Watching Kevin Love play the type of ball he did makes me appreciate the future of basketball even more. Kevin Love played a great overall game and just dominated the center position. He played with intensity, motivation, purpose and most of all he played the game with his head. He played the game with such great basketball IQ that you would never think that this guy is still a freshman, which he is. Being a son of a past NBA player probably had alot to do with his early upbringing regarding the game but it was just amazing to watch. I feel bad that I have missed the season because we don’t get the UCLA games here in the South. But from this day forward I will make a conscious effort in following this man’s career as I have become a fan.
So with UCLA win against Xavier they are now on their way to San Antonio and have reached the Final Four for 3 straight seasons. They lost to Florida the past two years they reached the Final Four hopefully the 3rd time is a charm. The only team left in the Tourney that will cause UCLA problems is North Carolina. But I think the way the Bruins are playing right now they can overcome that obstacle.
So it will be possible for both the Bruins and the Lakers to win the Championship in the same year. Ahh that would be nice.

Back To Work , Summary Of Our Week

Published by Joe under Daily Blabber

Doh!!  My vacation is over and headed back to work on Monday.  Overall our vacation was fun and relaxing alot of traveling but a nice change of pace.

Ahh so what’s been going on this week?  Well in Sports, UCLA is playing in a couple of hours as they have made it to the elite eight.  A win today and they’re on their way to the Final Four.  The Lakers have lost 2 in a row to two of the worst teams in the NBA and Kobe is only one technical away from a mandatory one game suspension.

As for us, we got back on Friday then headed over to Downtown Charleston walked around, had some sushi and then some ice cream.  We’re just going to stay in the rest of the weekend.  Probably do some cleaning, finish the laundry and watch some hoops on the TV.

Other things are brewing but I’m not gonna mention these things until they are confirmed.

Baseball Fans In Japan Loves Autographs

Baseball Fans In Japan Loves Autographs

A game in the Tokyo Dome between the A’s vs Red Sox shows fans doing anything and everything in their power to get their autographs. The Japanese sure knows how to improvise. I gotta give it up to them though, they get an A for both effort and creativity.
