Still Alive

Life is good, things are going well.

Its hot as hell though in Lakewood CA but just got a portable AC that makes it somewhat livable.

Lakers just got Dwight this weekend thats a pretty big deal.  Can’t wait for the season to start its still a couple of months away but I know it’ll fly by.

USA Basketball just took the GOLD over Spain earlier today which was pretty much a lock from the beginning of the tournament but still nice to see.

OK bye.

Can’t Wait For Spring – Weekend Plans

It’s been a rough Winter to say the least.  The kids have gotten sick on a monthly basis since November.  Junior had a mild case of Pneumonia and Jojo at one point had a fever of 104.  Although not as bad, the wife and I both have gotten sick from taking care of the kids as well.  We usually get sick during the winter months but not as bad as it’s been this year.  It’s most likely due to the ever changing weather we’ve been having.  One day it’s summer like weather then the following day the weather is close to freezing.  We can’t wait for Spring and that Southern California weather to arrive.

It’s currently Saturday morning and the whole family is still sleeping.  I got up early to clean up a little bit and hopefully have enough time to watch an episode or two of The Walking Dead.  A new show I started watching a couple of weeks ago.  There are only 6 episodes to Season 1 and I only have a couple left.

Later on today, we’re planning on going to Disneyland since we haven’t been there in a couple of months.  We’re paying close to $100.00 a month for our premium passes so we might as well get our money’s worth.  Junior loves going to Disneyland, we just put on his Monkey leash and let him run around.  Jojo still loves the place as well, she’s more into the roller coasters her favorite ride is California Screamin’ and Space Mountain.  I think my little baby girl is ready for Magic Mountain.

After that, if we still have enough energy we’re planning on getting Joselyn some new uniform pants since she’s growing up so fast and she’s already outgrown the one’s she’s been using.

Weather is supposed to be beautiful in So. Cal this weekend in the high 70s with no chance of rain.  Of course, it’s suppose to rain a little bit later on in the week, but as far as the weekend is concerned it should be as good as it gets.  Since we’re all feeling OK and none of us are under the weather we might as well go out there and enjoy it.

Kobe’s Broken Nose

The Masked Mamba

Masked Mamba (Image: Google Images)

Just in case you’ve missed it, Kobe was fouled HARD in the all-star game by Dwayne Wade this past weekend and as a result Kobe ended up with a broken nose and a concussion.  He also had to wear a mask in yesterday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.  Did I mention that it happened during the ALL-STAR game?  Where there was no defense being played, much less hard playoff type fouls.  Obviously after a couple of days Wade said he sent Kobe a message to apologize.  This was only because he has received a lot of criticism for his actions and he wanted to clear his name.  That isn’t gonna cut it buddy.

I’m not sure what his real intent was but from a bystander’s point of view it makes him look like he’s a bit jealous and just a hater.  Ok that may seem like a bit of a stretch at first glance but if you actually put yourself in Dwayne Wade’s shoes you may actually feel for the guy.  I mean Kobe’s career accomplishments just dwarf’s Wades.  He’s been living in the shadow of the real NBA shooting guard superstar his whole career and deep down inside he probably just can’t take it anymore.  And as a result he breaks Kobe’s nose in an all-star game.   The concussion was just an addition.

This Sunday, Miami and the Lakers will face off at the Staples Center in what will hopefully be a great basketball game.  I’m not sure if the Lakers will retaliate but Kobe has responded stating that he believes Wade didn’t do it on purpose and that he has no ill feelings towards the man.  I love Kobe but I think he may be fibbing a little bit here.  This is Kobe Bryant after all.  He’s the master of mind games.  Do you think he’s just going to say something stupid like..  “Of course I’m pissed, I can’t wait for revenge”  or something along those lines?  Of course not.

The retaliation will happen, you can book that.  Will it happen this weekend?  Maybe, maybe not.  Will it happen next month? Who knows.  How about the finals?  If the Heat can make it that far, that might a good bet.  Time table isn’t set, but one thing is for sure, Kobe does not forget.  He remembers everything.

Junior’s Pneumonia

Our baby boy was diagnosed with a mild case of pneumonia yesterday (Monday).  He started getting sick Friday morning with a mild fever and coughing.  The symptoms got worse during the weekend with fevers reaching 102.5.  We went to his pediatrician yesterday and they diagnosed him with a mild case of pneumonia. (Sad face).  We were told to come back the today for a follow-up visit.

Last night we started with Amoxicillin twice a day and Albuterol every 4-6 hours.  It was a rough night, I got a total sleep of about 45 minutes. He was having a hard time breathing and couldn’t sleep continually because of that.  Our hearts sank looking at his sad face and the pain he was going through.  We love our baby boy and the whole fam bam was just sad.

Today we went back for a follow up visit with the doctor as requested and junior is getting better.  The doctor said that his lungs sound a lot better and he is very happy with the progress Junior is making (happy face).  He said to continue with the Antibiotics and the breathing treatment but he is progressing quite nicely.

Obviously we’re happy with the visit and will take care of him to make sure he recovers and won’t be in pain much longer.

I can’t believe how quickly he has been able to shake off the Pneumonia to have clear lungs again.  Our kids are fighters :) .  I believe it has something to do with God’s protection as well.

NFL 2011 Week 2

Spent most of Sunday watching NFL games, since it is beginning to look a lot like there will be no NBA season anytime soon. NFL hasn’t really been my sport in the past, but lately (the last couple of seasons) I’ve been getting more interested in the sport.
First game I watched was between the Raiders and the Bills. I first checked out the previews online then went on twitter to see what fans from both sides had to say about the game. From what I read, Raider fans were saying they had a strong running game and would take it to the Bills; the Bills fans on the other hand were saying the complete opposite. I’m from LA so even though I haven’t followed the Raiders in the past; I rooted for them. The game was a dandy; the Raiders took the 1st half by storm and ran away with a 21-3 halftime lead and I was like yo.. “Raider Nation” all day :) .. But the 3rd quarter was a totally different story; the Bills came roaring back scoring 21 points in a row to take the lead. Then it was a seesaw battle that ultimately ended with a Buffalo victory in the final seconds. This was a really fun game to watch; although I wanted the Raiders to win. At least I didn’t have any money on the game.
The second game I watched was between the San Diego Chargers vs New England Patriots. Again being from LA; I went for the Chargers but Brady wasn’t having any of that. New England ran away with this game. Come to think of it, even if I wasn’t from LA; I would still have rooted for the Chargers since I always tend to root for the underdog.
The 3rd and final game I watched was Sunday Night Football between the Philadelphia Eagles vs Atlanta Falcons. This one had a lot of interest from around the country because of the whole Michael Vick scenario. I was rooting for the Eagles since I’ve always been a Michael Vick fan, he’s made tremendous strides last season to get back to where he is not and I admire that about him. I didn’t really admire what he did off the field but I respected his game and I am fan. BUT long story short Eagles lost and the Falcons won the game by 4; 35-31. To make things worse Vick left the game in the 3rd quarter after getting a neck injury (hit by his teammate) and spitting up blood (hopefully nothing too serious).
So yeah I spent most of the day watching NFL and had a ton of fun even though went 0 for 3.
After the last game I went online and signed up for the fantasy football league on NFL.com to see what all the fuss is about. Our draft day is Tues @ 5:30 PM. Honestly I have no clue how to play Fantasy football but I’m just gonna give it a shot to see how it is. If anything hopefully it will be something to keep me interested in the NFL this season.

Summer Is Over

Summer has come and gone in what seems quicker than a blink of an eye. Seems just like yesterday we were just starting spring and now here we are closing in on fall.
I guess thats what happens when you get older… Days/weeks/months passes by a bit quicker than when you were younger. I recall as a child having to count the days until my birthday because it would mean I would be a year older :) but man did it take awhile to arrive.. But nowadays it seems to be arrive at a slightly quicker pace for some strange reason =| and it still means I would be a year older :( I guess that’s life.
Although summer blew right past us doesn’t mean we are going to forget it. We’ve created some priceless family memories that we will treasure the rest of our lives. The kids are growing up at such a fast pace I can hardly keep up with them. Joselyn just started 3rd grade last week and junior is 1 1/2 and is just as curious as can be. The wife and I are truly blessed for having such wonderful kids.
Here are a couple of photos we took of the kids during labor day last week.

Just an Update…

TGIF tomorrow. The whole fam bam is doing great and happy. A lot updates to say but too lazy to say it.

A big test coming up in a few weeks that I need to study for, but haven’t studied one bit.

I need to get some motivation then maybe I can actually ace this darn thing. The problem with this test is that there really isn’t a solid base of study. I guess I’ll just see how it goes.

Good Night.

Go Dallas!

I’m a die hard Laker fan, that isn’t a mystery.  And I know that Dallas swept them this year but  I just loathe Miami that much more.  Now that the 2011 Finals it set and its going to be a 2006 rematch between Dallas and Miami.  I sincerely hope that Dallas takes it all the way, Jason and Dirk deserve it.

I may even go to the nearest sporting goods store and get me a Mavs Jersey to sport this long weekend haha..  Most likely not gonna happen but I’ll definitely root for the Mavs during the finals, book that!

New Work..

Im done working at that good for nothing, waste of time dungeon!  Actually, I’ve been done for about a little over a month now.  I’m so glad I left, that was the worst 5 months in my life.  Bastids…

I took a position working for the City (yes a City Job) but guess what.. so far I actually like it and its been dandy.  Actually anything is better than my previous employer.  (Bastids…) But yeah, 3 minute drive to and fro and I get off just in time to enjoy a lot of happy hour spots within walking distance from work LOL.  Not that I’ve actually went by my self I actually enjoy getting off at a nice time and spend time with the family.  I even go home for lunch.  I just hope that nothing changes and this gig will last awhile because I actually like working here.  For now at least.

To be continued…
