Spent most of Sunday watching NFL games, since it is beginning to look a lot like there will be no NBA season anytime soon. NFL hasn’t really been my sport in the past, but lately (the last couple of seasons) I’ve been getting more interested in the sport.
First game I watched was between the Raiders and the Bills. I first checked out the previews online then went on twitter to see what fans from both sides had to say about the game. From what I read, Raider fans were saying they had a strong running game and would take it to the Bills; the Bills fans on the other hand were saying the complete opposite. I’m from LA so even though I haven’t followed the Raiders in the past; I rooted for them. The game was a dandy; the Raiders took the 1st half by storm and ran away with a 21-3 halftime lead and I was like yo.. “Raider Nation” all day
.. But the 3rd quarter was a totally different story; the Bills came roaring back scoring 21 points in a row to take the lead. Then it was a seesaw battle that ultimately ended with a Buffalo victory in the final seconds. This was a really fun game to watch; although I wanted the Raiders to win. At least I didn’t have any money on the game.
The second game I watched was between the San Diego Chargers vs New England Patriots. Again being from LA; I went for the Chargers but Brady wasn’t having any of that. New England ran away with this game. Come to think of it, even if I wasn’t from LA; I would still have rooted for the Chargers since I always tend to root for the underdog.
The 3rd and final game I watched was Sunday Night Football between the Philadelphia Eagles vs Atlanta Falcons. This one had a lot of interest from around the country because of the whole Michael Vick scenario. I was rooting for the Eagles since I’ve always been a Michael Vick fan, he’s made tremendous strides last season to get back to where he is not and I admire that about him. I didn’t really admire what he did off the field but I respected his game and I am fan. BUT long story short Eagles lost and the Falcons won the game by 4; 35-31. To make things worse Vick left the game in the 3rd quarter after getting a neck injury (hit by his teammate) and spitting up blood (hopefully nothing too serious).
So yeah I spent most of the day watching NFL and had a ton of fun even though went 0 for 3.
After the last game I went online and signed up for the fantasy football league on NFL.com to see what all the fuss is about. Our draft day is Tues @ 5:30 PM. Honestly I have no clue how to play Fantasy football but I’m just gonna give it a shot to see how it is. If anything hopefully it will be something to keep me interested in the NFL this season.
NFL 2011 Week 2
Summer Is Over
Summer has come and gone in what seems quicker than a blink of an eye. Seems just like yesterday we were just starting spring and now here we are closing in on fall.
I guess thats what happens when you get older… Days/weeks/months passes by a bit quicker than when you were younger. I recall as a child having to count the days until my birthday because it would mean I would be a year older
but man did it take awhile to arrive.. But nowadays it seems to be arrive at a slightly quicker pace for some strange reason =| and it still means I would be a year older
I guess that’s life.
Although summer blew right past us doesn’t mean we are going to forget it. We’ve created some priceless family memories that we will treasure the rest of our lives. The kids are growing up at such a fast pace I can hardly keep up with them. Joselyn just started 3rd grade last week and junior is 1 1/2 and is just as curious as can be. The wife and I are truly blessed for having such wonderful kids.
Here are a couple of photos we took of the kids during labor day last week.
Just an Update…
TGIF tomorrow. The whole fam bam is doing great and happy. A lot updates to say but too lazy to say it.
A big test coming up in a few weeks that I need to study for, but haven’t studied one bit.
I need to get some motivation then maybe I can actually ace this darn thing. The problem with this test is that there really isn’t a solid base of study. I guess I’ll just see how it goes.
Good Night.
Go Dallas!
I’m a die hard Laker fan, that isn’t a mystery. And I know that Dallas swept them this year but I just loathe Miami that much more. Now that the 2011 Finals it set and its going to be a 2006 rematch between Dallas and Miami. I sincerely hope that Dallas takes it all the way, Jason and Dirk deserve it.
I may even go to the nearest sporting goods store and get me a Mavs Jersey to sport this long weekend haha.. Most likely not gonna happen but I’ll definitely root for the Mavs during the finals, book that!
New Work..
Im done working at that good for nothing, waste of time dungeon! Actually, I’ve been done for about a little over a month now. I’m so glad I left, that was the worst 5 months in my life. Bastids…
I took a position working for the City (yes a City Job) but guess what.. so far I actually like it and its been dandy. Actually anything is better than my previous employer. (Bastids…) But yeah, 3 minute drive to and fro and I get off just in time to enjoy a lot of happy hour spots within walking distance from work LOL. Not that I’ve actually went by my self I actually enjoy getting off at a nice time and spend time with the family. I even go home for lunch. I just hope that nothing changes and this gig will last awhile because I actually like working here. For now at least.
To be continued…
April and such
junior’s 1 jojo’s turning 8 2morrow…..
springtime and such..
etc. etc.. etc…
Can’t Wait For The Weekend
TGIF tomorrow, been a long week and can’t wait for a couple of days off.
That is all
Savings
Saving money in an economy with an unemployment rate of 12.4% is difficult, that we know. But I believe with a clear mind and perseverance we can achieve a goal. This may not seem like a lot of money to people but our goal is to save 10K for 2011, for us it will be a milestone.
We’re planning on buying a home here in California within a couple of years (most likely a little longer) but it’s going to take some work. We have dual income which is a good thing. Bad thing is our annual income about 75K we have 2 kids and 1 in private school. This doesn’t leave a lot for savings but I’ve been crunching the numbers and I see that we can cut down on items that aren’t necessities and add that to our bottom line.
As mentioned earlier, our goal is to save 10K to start our Down Payment Fund. I guess our mentality will be one paycheck at a time. I know it’s not that much for a down payment but it’s a start. I hope we can keep this goal and stick with it. With the way we’ve handled finances in the past any type of savings will be a big plus so putting money away weekly is going to be vital.

Case of the Mondays
Mondays are the busiest day of the week at work. I do production entry for Friday, Saturday & Sunday. In essence, 3 times as much work as a regular day. I don’t finish production entry until 11 AM (I start at 6:00 AM). After production entry I still need to do a bunch of things. Getting out of there by 3 is a chore to say the least, but I still leave. Most of the time I still got a bunch of things I need to do but I just leave making sure that things that need to be done are done.
Yes, waking up at 4:30 AM on a Monday is hard but I think with the way things are going I’m going to start coming in even earlier on Mondays. I asked if I can come in at 5:00 AM and management didn’t have an argument with that. So as long as I can hack it.. I’ll be getting up at 3:30 AM on Mondays to make it to work by 5. This will give me some extra time in the morning to try and get caught up. Let’s see how long it lasts.
I’m guessing one week.
