Life Update, Lakers, Joselyn & Fam

Published by Joe under Daily Blabber, Lakers

Yes I’m here writing something after about 4 months of absence.  Nothing really interesting to write about.  Life in general has been pretty boring, still working at the same place, although now I hpretty much hate it over there.  I’m going to start looking for other work, but the economy is so bad right now that I don’t know what I’ll find.  Whatever it is, it will probably be better than what I’m putting up with where I’m at.

On an exciting news, the Lakers are world champions!! Yeah baby, Kobe and company pulled it off and they are primed to win another championship next year assuming they keep this group together.  back-to-back hopefully (keeping fingers crossed).   The whole playoff run was exciting and I watched each and every game the Lakers played.

Joselyn is done with Kindergarten and she is currently in summer school.  She received several awards during her kindergarten year including two academic achievement awards and a reading award.  She received straight “O”s on her final grade… which pretty much equates to straights “A”s.  Mommy and daddy are very proud.

We’re still staying at June’s parents house but were actually getting our debt paid off and starting to get our head above water, staying here have been really helpful for us.

Junalyn’s birthday is this Sunday and I believe were going to have a family lunch/dinner out.  Happy B-Day hun =)

I’m going to start making a conscious effort on updating my website often, at least weekly.  ;) no seriously…

Kevin Love Knows Basketball

Published by Joe under Sports

Kevin Love Knows Basketball
Kevin Love is the starting UCLA Power Forward/Center. He is the son of Stan Love who was an NBA player in the 70s. I don’t follow College Hoops as much as I do the NBA but after watching UCLA destroy Xavier yesterday, I feel that I should. Watching Kevin Love play the type of ball he did makes me appreciate the future of basketball even more. Kevin Love played a great overall game and just dominated the center position. He played with intensity, motivation, purpose and most of all he played the game with his head. He played the game with such great basketball IQ that you would never think that this guy is still a freshman, which he is. Being a son of a past NBA player probably had alot to do with his early upbringing regarding the game but it was just amazing to watch. I feel bad that I have missed the season because we don’t get the UCLA games here in the South. But from this day forward I will make a conscious effort in following this man’s career as I have become a fan.
So with UCLA win against Xavier they are now on their way to San Antonio and have reached the Final Four for 3 straight seasons. They lost to Florida the past two years they reached the Final Four hopefully the 3rd time is a charm. The only team left in the Tourney that will cause UCLA problems is North Carolina. But I think the way the Bruins are playing right now they can overcome that obstacle.
So it will be possible for both the Bruins and the Lakers to win the Championship in the same year. Ahh that would be nice.

Baseball Fans In Japan Loves Autographs

Baseball Fans In Japan Loves Autographs

A game in the Tokyo Dome between the A’s vs Red Sox shows fans doing anything and everything in their power to get their autographs. The Japanese sure knows how to improvise. I gotta give it up to them though, they get an A for both effort and creativity.

Kobe Sitting At 15 Technical Fouls So What?

Published by Joe under Kobe Bryant

Kobe Sitting At 15 Technical Fouls So What?

Yesterday was a great day for the Lakers.  First they blew a game at home against the Charlotte Bobcats who had a record of 25 wins and 45 loses prior to the game.  Then Kobe gets thrown out of the game late in the 4th quarter when the game was already out of reach.  Also with the loss the Lakers fell from being tied for the number one seed down to number three.  Awesome right?  Well to make things worse.. With Kobe’s 2 technicals yesterday he now stands at 15, one more and he’s automatically suspended for one game.

This really hurts the Lakers specially in this juncture of the season and with all the injuries that they already have.  I’ve mentioned in post earlier that Kobe needs to just play his game and just let the game develop.  But I think now that Kobe is only 1 technical away from suspension, he should just get it over with.  I know that we need each and every game and that we cannot do it without Kobe specially with all the injuries we have.  But if he’s gonna get the suspension do it now and get it over with.  Start fresh and that cloud won’t be on his head as we end the season with a back to back game against San Antonio.  And come playoff time he’ll be prime and ready for blood.

I also think that if they actually suspend him for “one” game he’ll come back with a vengeance that only Kobe is capable of displaying and that’s good news for Laker fans.

So, Kobe just get it over with but make the “last technical” count in other words get your money’s worth.  Then come back and destroy the league, get the regular season MVP, the RING and Finals MVP.  Then pop your jersey and say STFU MOFOS.

Lakers Are Peaking At The Right Time

Published by Joe under Lakers

lakers are peaking at the right time

After an injury to Pau in New Orleans and a rough start to the toughest road trip in 20 years the Lakers have got their groove back. LA have won their last three games, 2 of which were on the road against 2 of the top Western Conference teams and all of this without Pau, Bynum, Ariza and Mihm.

The first win came against Dallas on March 18th, a game in which the Lakers came out of the gates with a passion I have not seen in a long time. This enabled them to get ahead by as much as 25 points early in the 3rd quarter. Dallas however made a very admirable job getting back in the game. They were able to cut that 25 point lead to 2 and had a chance to win the game with a Dirk 3-pointer at the end but the shot did not fall. The final score was LA 102- 100.

The second win came against the hottest home team in the NBA the Utah Jazz. Utah had won 19 straight games prior to the game and was trying to set a franchise record of 20 games against LA. This would not materialized because LA had a purpose and that was to break the streak and redeem Fisher. In case you guys didn’t know, Fisher was a Jazz last year but went to LA because his daughter had a rare cancer disease and could get much better medical care in Los Angeles. The Jazz organization let him get off his contract for his family and Fisher signed with the Lakers. The Utah fans however believe that Fisher had “other” motives and booed him on his first return to Utah back in November. The Lakers took this personally and they came out with vengeance against the Jazz and led the whole game. They led by as much as 24 and never let Utah in the game. The final score was LA 106 Utah 95.

The third win came last night against the lowly Supersonics, a game in which LA was expected to win and won. Lakers dominated the entire game jumping to 10-0 start and never looked back. EIGHT Lakers were in double-figures and just out-played, out-thunk, out-maneuvered, out-everythingged the Sonics for complete ownage. I actually fell asleep during the 4th quarter knowing it was gonna be a W. The final score was LA 130 Seattle 105

The Lakers are now on top of the West again with a record of 48-21 a game ahead of both the Hornets and the Rockets. Pau is espected back as soon as tomorrow’s game against Golden State. Andrew should be back in 2 weeks, which means he’ll have about 6 games to play in the regular season before the playoffs start. Mihm and Ariza are also on their way back to the squad which means we are peaking at just the right time.

LA has 13 games left, 9 of which are gonna be home game. There’s gonna be tough games down the stretch starting with a back to back game against Golden State tomorrow and Monday. They play Dallas at home on April 4th and will finish the season against New Orleans on April 11th and a back to back game against the defending champs the Spurs on April 13th and 15th. It’s gonna be a very important stretch but if Bynum and Gasol come back and start gelling during the regular season we’re going to be unstoppable come playoff time.

Kobe Bryant And His Technical Fouls

Published by Joe under Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant And His Technical Fouls
What is going on with Mr. Bryant this season? First gets his wish by getting some help with the Pau trade. Then his whole team starts to play like a real Laker team whom as we speak are sitting on top of the Western Conference. And throughout all this he’s been the catalyst leading the team and yet Kobe also leads the league in technical fouls. I love the man, I think he’s the greatest player in the league right now but come on. Every play he doesn’t get the call his way (whether correct or not) he barks at the ref like a hound dog and usually just doesn’t stop. It’s one thing to work the referees but another thing to just get under their skin. In the past he’s been known not to be shy but this season it’s been ridiculous. For a man that’s considered the number one candidate to be the MVP (He still gets my vote by the way) this just doesn’t add up.
In my humble opinion I think he needs to let it go.. If he doesn’t get his call on a play just let it go and play ball. To be honest he’s averaging over 10 free throws per game and I think he’s getting his fair share of calls. Not only that, he’s @ 13 technical fouls right now and a couple more techs and he’s going to be suspended for a game and we just can’t afford that. The west is so competitive right now, that one game can be a big difference in playoff rankings come April. With all that said, if the game is on the line and he knows the referees are ready to tea him up he’s capable of just letting it go. So for the love of God, Kobe just let it go and play your MVP level ball and the calls will come your way.

Are The Lakers The Team To Beat?

Published by Joe under Lakers

Are the 2008 Los Angeles Lakers the team to beat in the NBA? The answer to that question is NO. That answer might come off as a surprise to many people considering I’m a die hard Laker fan. Don’t get me wrong I want them to win the championship this year, next year and every year thereafter but the truth is they do not have the experience right now. The only Laker players on the current roster that have the playoff experience past the first round are Kobe, Fisher and Luke. The rest of the team do not have the experience needed. With that said, everyone always sleeps on the Spurs until they realize that they are still playing in June. So my take is this, the Spurs are the NBA Champions and until they are knocked out of the playoffs THEY are the team to beat. They have the experience and they always seem to turn it on at this time of the season and of course the playoffs. I hate to admit this as watching the Spurs play is like watching paint dry but that’s beside the point because they do what it takes to win.
OK so we’ve settled that San Antonio is the team to beat and that’s great and dandy. But… and this is going to be a big BUT.. LA has the TALENT along with Mr. 24. The Lakers might not be the team to beat, but they are contenders in a big way. Its true that most of the roster do not have playoff experience but speaking as a loyal fan whose followed the team from day one this season I believe that the lack of experience will be outweighed with the talent, drive and determination of the team. Sure San Antonio is the team to beat but LA will be the team to beat team.

Kobe Bryant For MVP

Published by Joe under Kobe Bryant

Kobe BryantI’m sure all of you are aware that I am a big Laker fan and how much I’m enjoying this season so far.  I know this might seem a little early, but in my opinion Kobe Bryant should be this year’s MVP no matter how the rest of the season plays out.  I still can’t believe how he has not won this award yet.  He’s been the greatest player in the league for the last few seasons and just keeps on improving.  The guy is just a complete winner, he hates to lose and that’s the drive that motivates him to get better with each passing year.
This year alone, he has endured great adversity from the pre-season starting from the trade demands to the injury to Bynum and then having a dislocated Pinky.  He’s played through all these things and still has his team sitting on top of the west.  Watching him drop 52 points last Sunday against the Mavericks had me on my feet the final quarter and OT of the game.  Then watching him take the Kings apart on Tuesday just makes me shake my head in amazement.  There are a couple of other guys making great leaps this year but compared to what Kobe has done this year it should be a no contest.  But then again, I’ve been lobbying for Mr. Bryant for awhile now and for some strange reason he doesn’t get this award.  But I believe with as much waves the Lakers are making this year he will win the MVP this year.  And hopefully the Lakers will follow suit by winning the title and I’ll be in heaven.  Of course if the Lakers win it all this year, then Kobe will win the Finals MVP without a doubt.

Lakers 13 of last 14 Games

Published by Joe under Game Day

The LA Lakers defeat the LA Clippers and it was a blow out… I stopped watching after the 3rd quarter and started watching the Denver vs San Antonio game. Denver currently has a 15 point lead with 6 minutes left. If San Antonio loses, then the Lakers will be on top of the west all by themselves..
