Saving money in an economy with an unemployment rate of 12.4% is difficult, that we know. But I believe with a clear mind and perseverance we can achieve a goal. This may not seem like a lot of money to people but our goal is to save 10K for 2011, for us it will be a milestone.
We’re planning on buying a home here in California within a couple of years (most likely a little longer) but it’s going to take some work. We have dual income which is a good thing. Bad thing is our annual income about 75K we have 2 kids and 1 in private school. This doesn’t leave a lot for savings but I’ve been crunching the numbers and I see that we can cut down on items that aren’t necessities and add that to our bottom line.
As mentioned earlier, our goal is to save 10K to start our Down Payment Fund. I guess our mentality will be one paycheck at a time. I know it’s not that much for a down payment but it’s a start. I hope we can keep this goal and stick with it. With the way we’ve handled finances in the past any type of savings will be a big plus so putting money away weekly is going to be vital.
